Violin and Viola

Education

Anna received her bachelor’s and master’s of music from the University of Kentucky. She has also completed Suzuki Violin training units 1-4 and 6 in addition to enrichment training through the Greater Washington Suzuki Institute.

As a Performer

Anna has performed extensively throughout Central Kentucky, playing violin with the Lexington Chamber Orchestra, the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Lex Orchestra. She currently plays violin and viola in the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia and as a freelancer throughout Northern Virginia.

Highlights from performances with University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra included a two-week performance tour of China and a Carnegie Hall Performance with folk legend Arlo Guthrie.

In 2018, Anna was selected for a cultural exchange residency through Partners of the Americas. She traveled to Ecuador, where she performed recitals with traditional Kentucky music, lectured, taught in music schools, and exchanged musical ideas.

As a Teacher

For five years, Anna served as Director of MusicWorks, an El Sistema-inspired program serving children and families in Central Kentucky. She also taught orchestra and strings in K-12 public schools in Lexington, Kentucky and Alexandria, Virginia. Before transitioning to public school teaching, Anna served as Assistant Conductor for the Preparatory String Orchestra with the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras. More recently, she taught kids and adults fiddle and violin classes at a community music school in Charlottesville, Virginia. While Anna primarily teaches the Suzuki method, she enjoys playing and teaching a wide range of musical styles.

At Levine

Anna joined Levine’s faculty in 2024 and teaches both traditional violin/viola and the Suzuki method.

The variety across the board at Levine is inspiring. I enjoy teaching at a legendary place that is so supportive, nurturing, and full of opportunities.

Teaching Philosophy

I began playing violin at the age of 3 and have never stopped! I grew up in the Suzuki tradition with wonderful teachers, and my own participation in weekly lessons and ensembles proved formative from an early age. I love working with students of all ages and levels, helping students work toward their goals to reach their full potential. I meet each student where they are and foster creativity and personal growth through music.
