Education

Jay received his MFA in Directing from the Catholic University of America, his MA in Theatre History and Theory from UC Santa Barbara. Prior to his graduate studies, Jay earned his BA in Drama also from UC Santa Barbara.

In addition to his degrees, Jay participated in a number of workshops, including the Anne Bogart and SIT Company’s Viewpoints, the Stella Adler Method with the Lynette Sheldon Actors Studio, as well as numerous topics at the Center for Movement Theatre.

Performing Experience

Jay has directed over fifty professional musicals, operas, and plays across the nation as well as over 25 educational productions. Recent credits include the world premiere of the fully orchestrated version of Songs for a New World conducted by composer Jason Robert Brown and the regional premiere of Sisters of Swing with NYC’s Infinity Theatre Company. 

Teaching Experience

Jay is currently an Associate Professor of Acting & Directing and the Chair of Music Performance in The Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Drama, & Art at The Catholic University of America.

Jay joined our LMT faculty in 2021 and works with our musical theatre productions and our Adult Musical Theatre Ensemble.
