Chair of First Music, First Music Instructor

Education

Youlee received her B.A. in Music with a concentration in Piano and Orff Schulwerk Level 1 training from George Mason University.

Performance and Teaching Experience

Youlee has performed in numerous recitals and concerts including Honors Recital and Jeffrey Siegel’s Piano Master Class at GMU, and First Music and Piano Faculty Recitals at Levine. She also maintains a private piano studio.

At Levine

Youlee has been with Levine since January 2007 serving as faculty and program coordinator for the First Music department and teaches Suzuki piano.

“My favorite part of teaching and sharing music with young children is the opportunity to watch them grow. Students start with us as babies and toddlers, and watching them begin to walk, talk and become little people is truly amazing. I have students who have taken several years of First Music classes and now are taking private lessons and loving music. They often stop by my office to say hello and show off their tiny violins! I am grateful to call this my job.”

Teaching Philosophy and Approach

“Teaching music to young children is the most rewarding experience for me. My goal is for students to leave every class with a big smile on their face. Children learn best when they are having fun so learning through play is very important. Through singing, moving and playing instruments, my students learn basic musical concepts and fundamentals, all while having fun!”

Personal

When Youlee is not teaching music, she is busy running after her energetic son. They love to play outside and take a nice walk, go to the playground, have picnics, and spend time with her family and friends.
