Double Bass Instructor

The Strings Departments at Levine Music are seeking a bass instructor to teach at several campuses, starting in the Fall 2021 semester. The ideal candidate will double on electric bass, and is able to perform and teach on both instruments at a high level.

Candidates should have experience teaching students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, including adults, in both private and group settings. Experience leading small ensembles (i.e. Jazz Combo, Rock Band, or Chamber Groups) is preferred. Candidates with a strong classical background as well as candidates with a more contemporary background, such as jazz, blues and rock, are welcome to apply. Candidates should be highly organized and be able to demonstrate strong communication skills via email and phone with both students and colleagues. Previous experience teaching in a community music setting is preferred. Exact teaching responsibilities will be determined based on the candidate’s teaching background, musical interests, and skills. A Masters degree in music performance or music education, or equivalent experience, is preferred.

Successful candidates will join a collegial team of instructors committed to teaching at the highest level to students of all backgrounds in an inclusive, community music setting. Exact teaching hours and locations are flexible based on the candidate’s availability and student interest. Most teaching occurs weekday evenings (3:00 PM to 9:00 PM) and Saturdays (9:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Successful candidates will have the opportunity to increase their instructional hours as demand and scheduling constraints allow. Semi-regular performance opportunities through Levine may be available for successful applicants with strong performance backgrounds. Compensation will be awarded according to qualifications and experience.

How To Apply

Applicants for this position should submit a letter of application, resume, copies of the candidate’s and/or students’ recent concert programs, and a Video link of the candidate and/or candidate’s students in performance. This posting will remain open until the position is filled.
