Illuminations: American Soundscapes of Dance, Rhythm, and Jazz

Music illuminates the power of story and voice. From David Baker’s gospel blues, to Gabriela Lena Frank’s Peruvian-influenced folk dances, and to Brian Raphael Nabor’s country hoedown, our program celebrates south and north American soundscapes of dance, rhythm, and jazz. The evocative “Galactic Districts” movement by James Lee III, internationally acclaimed Maryland composer, reveals inspiration close to home.
