Join us for a performance of the Shea-Kim Duo featuring Levine alumnus Brendan Shea, violin and Yerin Kim, piano.

Brendan Shea began violin at the age of 3 in Brussels, Belgium. At the age of 10 Brendan performed Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasie in Carnegie Hall, and the following year made his debut with orchestra at the age of 11 playing Paganini Concerto No. 1 with the Landon Symphonette in Washington DC.  Brendan continues to perform regularly with Orchestras and in recitals nationally and internationally.  In addition to his performance career, Brendan is also a sought after violin teacher and chamber musician. He also joined the faculty of Indiana University South Bend in fall of 2016.

Praised by the International Piano Magazine as “pianist of beautiful finesse and golden tone”, pianist Yerin Kim is a recitalist, chamber musician, and educator. She has given concerts in various festivals and recitals in major venues internationally, including The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Carnegie Hall in New York, Place Flagey in Brussels and Rolston Hall at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada. Kim holds a Double Degree in Piano Performance and Psychology from Oberlin conservatory and college, a Master of Music from Indiana University Bloomington, and Doctor of Musical Arts from State University of New York, Stony Brook. Her mentors and teachers include Hans Boepple, Seunghae Choi, Haewon Song, Arnaldo Cohen, Jean-Louis Haguenauer, and Gilbert Kalish

The award winning Shea-Kim Duo was formed in 2014 by husband and wife duo Brendan Shea and Yerin Kim. Since then, they have competed internationally and toured the world, performing in Belgium, Italy, Canada, South Korea, and the United States. The duo is also actively involved in promoting chamber music to a broader community and audiences, and regularly perform sensory friendly concerts that provide high quality chamber music for individuals and families with autism.

The Loeffler Alumni Series is sponsored by Robert and Jane Loeffler.
