Loeffler Alumni Series: Dane Frandsen, flute

Join us for a performance with Levine alumnus Dane Frandsen, flute accompanied by Levine faculty member Dasha Gabay, piano.
Dane Frandsen, at age 4, began studying flute with Rebecca Carey at Levine Music. He has performed at many high level events, master classes, workshops and competitions including: performing for First Lady Michelle Obama, winning the senior division in the Levine Music’s Marlin-Engel Instrumental Solo Competition, winning 1st place (Wind Division) at the City of Gaithersburg Young Artist Competition, and placing 2nd (Senior Division) in Levine Music’s Cogen Concerto Competition. Dane won 2nd place in the 2017 AAMS Piano, String, Woodwind, and Voice International Competition and the Flute Society of Washington’s Student Honors Competition. Dane was a finalist in the 2018 U.S. Army Orchestra Young Artist Competition and performed in a side-by-side with the U.S. Army Orchestra “Pershing’s Own”. In 2017 and 2019, Dane was a selected member of the Washington Archdiocesan Music Teachers Council Honor Band. He received Superior ratings for his flute performances at the District and State Solo Festivals, was awarded a scholarship from the National Flute Association and was selected to audition for the NPR “From the Top” radio program. From 2015-2019, Dane was the National Flute Association’s Washington, DC Youth Cultural Outreach Ambassador. From 2016-2019, Dane was chosen as a member of Levine Music’s Honors program through which he continued his flute lessons and participated in master classes and various chamber ensembles. Dane is currently an undergraduate sophomore at Shenandoah Conservatory studying in the flute studio of Jonathan Snowden.
