PERFORMING MUSICAL THEATRE IN CONCERT & CABARET:
The Songs of Richard Rodgers, Mary Rodgers Guettel & Adam Guettel
This new class at Levine Music offers the opportunity to perform repertoire from Broadway musicals by the legendary American composer Richard Rodgers, his daughter composer/author Mary Rodgers Guettel, and his grandson (Mary’s son) composer/ lyricist Adam Guettel.
Richard Rodgers is a beloved composer who wrote songs with such renowned lyricists as Lorenz Hart, Oscar Hammerstein II, Martin Charnin, Stephen Sondheim and himself!
Composer Mary Rodgers Guettel collaborated with lyricists Marshall Barer/Larry Siegel (ONCE UPON A MATTRESS, MAD SHOW) and with Stephen Sondheim.
Composer/ lyricist Adam Guettel is best known for his Tony award-winning Broadway musical THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA and Off-Broadway shows FLOYD COLLINS and MYTHS & HYMNS. His newest musical DAYS OF WINE & ROSES will premiere at the Atlantic Theatre Company in New York this season.
In this 10-week class the accomplished team of artist-coaches, Anna Bergman, Lucia LaNave and Meredith Eib, will help students find ideal songs from musical theatre which are personally suited to them and will offer vocal, musical and performance coaching to present these songs in the genre of concert/ cabaret, culminating in a live performance.
