Making music together is the heart of Strings Camp. Every student is offered the opportunity to belong to a small ensemble. Chamber music, along with orchestra, master classes, solo recitals, and even Frisbee on the front lawn (!) make Strings Camp a fun and rich learning and social experience. Students receive ample attention from experienced, empathetic faculty and support from teen mentors who are advanced players. The student experience is enriched by afternoon presentations from related creative disciplines. (Past camps have included tango performers, a theater coach, and a drum circle.) All students perform in the final concert on Friday.
________
Please note: to participate students must have one year or more of private study and read at the Bach Minuet level. Students who have two years or more of school orchestra experience and possess strong technical and reading skills may also be accepted. Previous ensemble experience is not necessary. The camp fosters an engaging atmosphere in which experienced students are challenged. Students new to chamber music will receive an excellent introduction.
The camp experience requires some preparation of repertoire in advance effort that results in individual and group success. The music will be sent out in early July.
