Strings Camp
Ages 9 – 14
(Eight-year-olds considered on a case-by-case basis)
Making music together is at the heart of Strings Camp. The student experience includes chamber music, orchestra, master classes, and a musicianship class. Solo recitals throughout the week offer an opportunity for everyone to perform solos with a professional accompanist. Our daily enrichment presentations have included a bluegrass band, a clinic in improvisation, and tango music.
Strings Camp is appropriate for violinists, violists, and cellists ages 9 – 14 who have taken private lessons for at least one year and read at least at the level of a Bach Minuet. Bass players can be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the director if you are interested. The camp is organized to challenge experienced ensemble players and to provide an excellent introduction to chamber music for students with no ensemble experience. All groups will perform at the Friday afternoon concert.

Students should present one major and one minor scale (if learned) and one solo. Please upload or copy a link to a video with your audition form. Students must also sign up for a sightreading day in the spring. Available dates are on the audition form: https://levine.formstack.com/forms/stringscamp2025
Sheet music will be sent out in early July so that all campers can prepare their music in advance. Please be sure to practice to make our rehearsals even more fun.
