Join us for this ukulele group class designed for the complete beginner! Guitarist, composer, and music educator Mark Sylvester guides you step-by-step each week, and by the end of the session participants are able to perform a variety of popular songs, understand basic chords, execute common strumming and fingerpicking patterns, and have a basic understanding of music notation.

No previous knowledge or experience necessary, just bring your ukulele and have fun learning this portable and delightful official instrument of Hawaii! Upon completion of this class, students have the option of joining Ukulele Class 2 or starting private lessons.

Please note: Participants must provide their own instruments. This online class will be presented via Zoom. Students should have access to a computer (preferred) or a mobile device with reliable internet access. Once enrolled, students receive a link to a preferred, low-cost instrument for purchase. For more information, please contact Risa Carlson, Guitar Department Chair, at (202) 686-8000 x1104 or rcarlson@levinemusic.org.
