Traditional and Suzuki Flute Instructors, part-time

The Position:
Levine Music is pleased to announce multiple part-time positions for Instructor of Suzuki Flute and/or Traditional Flute starting September 1, 2022. This position could be a full-time, benefits eligible position for the ideal candidate. Levine Music is looking for applicants interested in and prepared to join a team of mutually supportive and collaborative teachers with a diversity of pedagogical approaches.

Applicant must possess a BM in Performance or Education. MM in Performance or Education is preferred, and/or demonstrated success in private teaching. Applicants should possess a love of music, teaching, and children as well as the desire to nurture and shape the lives of young musicians.  Candidates should be experienced teaching students of all ages with a broad range of abilities and backgrounds in both private and group class settings. Ideally, candidates should have both a strong classical background and the ability to adapt instruction based on student interests and goals, and a capacity to teach other musical styles. Applicants for Suzuki Flute should have completed training in the Suzuki Method in Book 1 (other levels optional), a dedication to and understanding of the Suzuki philosophy, and teaching experience with children of all ages. 

Ideal candidates will be flexible to teach at any of Levine’s five campuses in the Washington D.C. area, as well as online when appropriate, with the intention of building a large studio of active students. Suzuki instructors will also participate in group classes monthly. 

Compensation will be awarded according to qualifications and experience.
