Camp Levine Next Steps

Next Steps

If the Camp Levine experience has revealed a budding musician, I hope you will consider Levine’s many ‘school year’ opportunities. Whether you’re interested in private lessons or a group learning experience, I’m sure Levine has something for your child. And maybe for you, too, since many of our students are adults!

End of Summer Experiences

LMT Experience – NW DC Campus
Aug 8, 2022 – Aug 19, 2022
LMT Experience is a two-week day camp experience where young elementary and middle school actors ages 8 – 13 explore different aspects of musical theatre. Students spend their mornings in dance, music, and acting classes, and in the afternoons, students apply their new skills in an ensemble setting to learn group songs and dances while creating a story that will be performed at a final showcase at the end of camp.
LMT Experience is ideal for students who are trying musical theatre for the first time as well as students who have experience on stage!

Youth Jazz Ensemble – NW DC Campus
Aug 8, 2022 – Aug 19, 2022
This hands-on ensemble helps students ages 8 – 12 of all instruments develop the skills needed to improvise and perform in a jazz ensemble setting. Students learn how to play from a fakebook, how to listen to and interact with each other while improvising in groups, and explore elements of melody, harmony, rhythm, structure, and expression through the standard jazz repertoire.
No previous experience in improvising or playing jazz is necessary, making this class perfect not only for beginning jazz musicians looking to improve their skills, but also classical and contemporary musicians wishing to branch out into new musical territory.

Year Round Schedules

Silver Spring Orchestras
The Levine String Orchestra program provides students ages 6 – 15 a rich and rewarding yearlong orchestral experience and culminates in two performances throughout the year.

 VA Beginner & Intermediate Orchestras
Young string players ages 5-10 are introduced to their instruments through an orchestral experience, as the group environment has proven to be an encouraging and rewarding experience for young beginners. Students will learn the basics of the instrument’s technique (violin, viola, or cello). This class offers two concerts each year.

SE DC campus: THEARC Beginner & Intermediate Orchestras
THEARC Beginner Orchestra and THEARC Intermediate Orchestra are coming off their eighth successful year at THEARC! For students with little or no previous experience in music, this beginning ensemble introduces students to a stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello, or bass). Each week students receive 90 minutes of instruction and guidance in a full ensemble as well as instrument-specific small group sectionals with Director Jonathan Jones.

First Music – All Sites
Through First Music, Levine combines the best of early childhood music education practices with fun, dynamic, and creative programs to deliver the DC region’s most engaging musical learning experiences for children and families. Designed and taught by Levine teachers who are early childhood specialists as well as accomplished musicians, our First Music classes are structured to emphasize learning through play. Our teachers inspire children in meaningful music experiences on a personal level, making musical principles accessible, internal, and memorable.

Private Lessons & Group Classes- All Sites
Private Lessons provide students with individual instruction with one of Levine’s talented faculty members and are geared towards the specific goals, needs, and aspirations of each student regardless of experience or age. For new students, we take the time and care to arrange individual placement interviews to match you with the right teacher to meet your individual musical needs.
Group Classes provide a wonderful introduction or continuation of music study in a social and collaborative environment.
Ensembles allow students to explore music together and develop listening, collaborating, and performing skills.
