Levine Music is committed to protecting the privacy and information it collects from its community.  This policy explains how Levine collects and handles information it receives from applicants and their families, students and their families, alumni, employees (including applicants for employment), donors and others who interact with Levine or its website. 

Other than IP addresses and traffic information collected described below, Levine does not collect personally identifying information on its website unless users choose to provide such information. 

This policy sets forth the type of information collected, how it is stored and used, and the rights and options users may have with respect to their personal information. 

Information Collection 

Levine strives to collect the minimum amount of information necessary – whether from applicants, enrolled students, alumni, employees, donors, or contractors. 

Levine collects personally identifiable information provided by users. A person’s interaction with Levine Music occurs during the admissions process, during enrollment (and throughout a student’s enrollment), and as alumni.  Levine also collects information from applicants for employment, employees, and contractors, as well as donors that utilize Levine’s website to make contributions. 

It is important to Levine to protect the privacy of young children who may use our website. Levine Music does not knowingly solicit or collect the personal information of children under the age of 13 on this website. Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to submit an application or contact form. Parents or legal guardians of a child under the age of 13 must complete any contact or intake forms and consent to the submission of an application to Levine. 

Levine may also share user information with third-party vendors providing services to us in our operations, including but not limited to email communications, online donation, tuition payment processing, and enrollment and registration processing. Levine Music uses cloud-based software to efficiently assist in operations. Most information, including personal information, is processed and/or stored in these systems. These cloud-based software providers also have their own security policies, terms of use, and privacy policies. 

Emails 

Visitors to www.levinemusic.org may voluntarily opt-in to receive promotional emails. To do so, visitors are asked to provide personally identifiable information. This information is shared with, and stored by, our email distribution partner Constant Contact, solely for the purpose of distributing promotional email communications from Levine. Constant Contact does not have permission to use this information for any other purpose. 

Levine Music emails sent through Constant Contact allow users to opt out of further messages by selecting the unsubscribe link found on every email. 

Donor Privacy 

To ensure that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in Levine Music, we affirm that our fund-raising practices protect against unauthorized use of contributor lists, and we permit no general solicitation of the public. 

Levine may use personal information of our donors including names, mailing addresses, phone numbers and email addresses only for purposes of donor acknowledgement and/or when the donor voluntarily provides this information. This personal information is shared with Levine employees, board members, volunteers, and third-party consultants only on a need-to-know basis. Levine will not trade, share, or sell this personal information with anyone else. This policy is applicable to all donors, including offline as well as online donors. 

Online donations are made through secure connection which encrypts personal information. The secure connection is maintained until the transaction is completed or terminated. 

Levine Music personnel are not permitted to use donor information for any purpose other than to carry out the organization’s mission. 

Providing a postal or email address may result in periodic mailings about Levine. To opt out of receiving mailings from the Levine, please contact us at webmaster@levinemusic.org. 

Providing a telephone number may result in telephone contact regarding a contribution or responding to requests. 

Registration/Enrollment 

It is understood that information shared with Levine Music during a student’s enrollment is given with the consent of a parent or guardian. Levine does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. 

Once enrolled, Levine continues to collect and process personal information for the purposes of educating the student. The personal information is used to keep users informed about Levine and to offer access to its services. Personal information also will be collected, created, and stored (about the student and family) for the purposes of tracking student progress. 

The information collected for enrolled students and their families includes names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, gender, and dates of birth. Health and medical information regarding students enrolled in the Music Therapy program is collected to ensure their well-being while at Levine. Further, Levine may collect information about the enrolled student’s academic records and interests, and possibly financial information in connection with Tuition Assistance. Information about performance and images of students engaged in performance and educational activities also may be collected and maintained. Levine may post information about performance and images (including audio and video recordings) of students on the internet and in digital or print publications. 

Levine Music may gather or receive information from other sources such as educational agencies (including, medical/educational, standardized tests, etc.). The types of information collected in these cases may be specific to the individual. Levine receives and processes such information pursuant to user agreements with such third-party service providers, and in furtherance of user agreements with Levine concerning matriculation. For information on the privacy practices of such third parties, please consult your agreements with them and their individual policies. 

This information collection is required to be enrolled at Levine Music. To the extent that any requested personal information is not necessary for the performance of Levine’s agreements and policies, such requests will be separately identified, and the appropriate consent obtained. 

Student records are kept permanently. 

Payment Privacy

Levine uses a third-party company for electronic payments. Please see that third-party’s security policy for details on how they collect and utilize any data they may collect. 

Prospective Employees, Current Employees, and Contractors 

Levine collects information from prospective employees, current employees, and contractors. Levine uses an employment application to collect personal information such as biographical information, gender, date of birth, employment history, and employment/personal references on all applicants for employment. This information becomes part of the employee’s file once hired. Levine also conducts extensive criminal background checks through fingerprinting and if applicable, a credit report, on its employees. Upon hire and throughout employment at Levine, the employee may provide additional information such as bank information for salary deposit purposes, biometric information for time-keeping purposes, health information, beneficiary and dependent information, and other information related to such employment. Levine collects EIN or Social Security Numbers from contractors and may collect bank information for payment purposes. Certain contractors with direct, unsupervised access to students will need to provide personal information such as biographical information, date of birth, employment history, and employment/personal references. Levine will also conduct criminal background checks through fingerprinting of such contractors with direct, unsupervised access to students. 

Email and Web Inquiries 

You also may send us personally identifying information, for example, in an email message containing a question or comment, by completing a web form that provides us with this information, and/or through a message, comment, or interaction on social media. Levine uses personally identifying information from these communications primarily to respond to you. Correspondence may be forwarded to Levine representatives to better answer your questions. Levine may also use your email to contact you in the future about our programs that may be of interest to you. 

Active Networks 

Levine Music utilizes digital products owned and operated by Active Networks, LLC. for the purposes of enrollment, billing, data collection and storage, and communications. Active Networks has their own privacy and data protection policies outlined on their website. Enrollment through Levine Music constitutes agreement to Active Networks’ policies as well as those of Levine Music. 

Data Storage, Retention, and Security 

Levine uses commercially reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the storage, confidentiality, and security of personal information and other information and data transmitted to it. However, no data transmission over the Internet or other networks is guaranteed to be 100% secure. You acknowledge and accept the data security risks of using this website and Levine Music’s services. 

Tracking Technology 

This website uses cookies and tracking technology (“Usage Information”) for gathering information such as browser type and operating system, user operating system, user web requests, user Internet Service Provider, user IP address, referring/exit pages and URLs, pages viewed and interactions with links on the website, comments, and other content users post, the time and duration of user visits to the website and other such information, tracking the number of visitors to this website, and understanding how visitors use the site. Personal information cannot be identified via Usage Information. 

Usage Information helps Levine understand user trends and needs in order to improve our digital platforms, content, and services. Levine may use Usage Information for general marketing purposes. This Privacy Policy in no way restricts or limits the collection and use of Usage Information, and Levine may share Usage Information about users with third parties for various purposes, including to help better understand user needs. Levine may store such Usage Information itself and/or such information may be included in databases owned and maintained by agents or service providers. 

Levine may also collect information that identifies the device users use to access the website, a user device’s unique device ID, the IP address of a users’ device, its operating system, connection type (e.g. Wi-Fi or cellular) and GPS technology (or other similar technology) to determine your current location when you use a mobile device to access the website. If you do not want us to have your location information, you should turn off the location services before accessing the website from your mobile device. We may use such information and pool it with other information to track, for example, the total number of visitors to our website, the number of visitors to each page of our website, etc. We use this information to help us understand how people use the website and to enhance the website. 

We use cookies (a small text file placed on your computer to identify your computer and browser). We may also use Web beacons (a file placed on a website that monitors usage). We use cookies and Web beacons to improve the experience of the site, including Levine’s portals under third-party domains, and services Levine provides, such as pre-populating your username for easier login, and to allow user-specific messaging or to permit user-specific advertising. This domain is hosted in the United States. If accessing this website or using Levine’s services from any other region with laws or regulations governing personal data collection, use, and disclosure that differ from U.S. laws, please be advised that through continued use of the site or our services, which are governed by U.S. law and this Privacy Policy, you are transferring your personal information to the U.S., and you consent to that transfer. Your personal information may also be accessible to law enforcement and national security authorities in the United States, without notice to you and without the knowledge or consent of Levine.
