Levine Music and Steinway Piano Gallery – Washington, DC invite you to an evening with pianist Greg Anderson.
Greg Anderson
Greg Anderson is a concert pianist, composer, and filmmaker whose performances have reached four continents and whose recordings have spent more than a dozen weeks at the top of the Billboard classical charts. The Washington Post has called him and his duo partner “the very model of complete 21st-century musicians.”
The program, “Time Unraveled,” does something no conventional recital can. Anderson performs on a Steinway Model D and a Steinway Spirio | r — a piano that records a performance down to the smallest gradation of touch and pedal, then plays it back on its own keys. During the performance, the Spirio becomes a second musician: it answers Anderson, argues with him, and, at one point, plays a recording of Anderson at age eight so he can perform a duet with his younger self.
The program spans four centuries: Bach’s Inventions fold into Ligeti. A Mozart duet from “Don Giovanni” is passed among 35 composers, each of whom wrote variations on it. Radiohead’s “Paranoid Android” becomes a duel between flesh and circuitry. Anderson speaks between pieces, offering context before each work is performed. A Q&A will follow the performance.
Seating is limited, and a reception will follow the performance.

Levine alum and acclaimed pianist Avery Gagliano works with advanced Levine piano students in this engaging master class. As students receive one-on-one guidance on interpretation, technique, and musical expression, audience members are invited to observe the process and gain new insight into the artistry behind each performance.
A Washington, DC native, Avery began playing piano at age five and studied at Levine with Marina Alekseyeva before entering the Curtis Institute of Music. Since then, she has emerged as one of the leading pianists of her generation, earning First Prize and the Best Concerto Prize at the 2020 National Chopin Piano Competition and becoming the only American semifinalist at the 2021 International Chopin Piano Competition. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, Warsaw Philharmonic Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin, and other major venues across the United States and Europe.
Avery is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with Robert McDonald, Gary Graffman, and Jonathan Biss. She currently lives in Germany and continues her studies with Sir András Schiff at the Kronberg Academy.
