Congratulations to all the participants of the 2020 inaugural Irena Orlov Memorial Piano Competition!

Inaugurated in 2020, the Irena Orlov Memorial Piano Competition for Adult Students remembers and celebrates our beloved friend and faculty, Irena Orlov, who passed away on May 8, 2018.

For more than 30 years, Irena was a pillar of the piano department and Levine. During her remarkable career, she taught and mentored hundreds of students and faculty, helping each of them achieve their best.

Irena invested love and devotion into everyone she taught. There wasn’t one Levine competition in the last three decades that didn’t feature her students. Irena’s alumni are now spread all over the world and have often returned to visit and thank her for the enormous impact she had on their lives. These include our accomplished faculty members, Ralitza Patcheva and Sam Post, and they, too, carry forward the legacy of this remarkable woman.
