Percussion

Education

Christian received his undergraduate degree in Music Education from the University of North Alabama before going on to earn his MM in Jazz Studies from the University of Maryland.

As a Performer

Christian has extensive experience in both the jazz and marching percussion fields. He has previously served as a member of “The Commandant’s Own,” The United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, and currently leads the Howard University Thunder Machine Drumline. Christian has appeared at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola in NYC and has performed with Ameen Saleem and Dave Manley.

As a Teacher

In addition to Levine, Christian has taught for Howard University as well as Winter Guard International (WGI) and Drum Corps International (DCI).

At Levine

Christian joined our percussion faculty in 2023 and loves the great community environment.

Teaching Philosophy

Christian’s educational approach is student-centered and creative.

I enjoy learning from the students–asking them what they want to learn. I cater to their needs with a lesson plan that leaves room for interruption, discussion, and exploration. I blend structure with expression, exercising both skills and drills with music format and creativity.
