At Levine

Gurjeet has been on the First Music faculty at Levine since 2008 of which she enjoys “the collegial atmosphere among the teachers in the First Music department.” She loves having the opportunity to work with families and see the students grow and progress over the years.

Teaching Philosophy and Approach

“I use the Orff Schulwerk approach to teaching music to young children. It includes all the activities they naturally love to do: move, play, sing and chant. Using musical games, stories and high quality Orff instruments, children work on pitch matching and basic rhythmic training to build a musical literacy foundation. I think it is important to provide young students a nurturing environment where they feel free to express themselves creatively through music.”

Personal

When not teaching, Gurjeet enjoys spending her time practicing pilates, yoga and hiking.
