Education and Award
Jaewook received G.P.D. from the Peabody Institute, M.M. from the University of Maryland, and completed D.M.A coursework from the University of Maryland.
He participated in multiple trainings and seminars including the El Sistema, the Sphinx Connect, the Collective Composition, and the Orff Schulwerk Training. He was a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including graduate assistantship from the University of Maryland, merit-based scholarships from the Peabody Institute, the Mu Phi Epsilon, the Yonsei University, and the Yonsei University Alumni Association.
Performance and Teaching Experience
Jaewook is an open-hearted, fun-loving music educator, composer, and performer. He has been teaching music classes, musicianship classes, as well as music appreciation classes to students from Pre-K to college, for over seven years.
Currently, he is a general music specialist at the Bunker Hill Elementary School and the Bishop Walker Boys School, Teaching Artist at the Young Audiences Arts for Learning, and Clarinet and Saxophone Teaching Artist at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s OrchKids.
Jaewook has performed in venues all over, at the Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater, the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, the Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall, the Sidney Harman Hall, Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall, Ward Recital Hall, and the Monteabaro Hall.
At Levine
Jaewook joined the Levine faculty in 2021. “I have been blessed because I love music and I love teaching. Guiding children to love music is my goal.”
Teaching Philosophy
“Life is a musical and everyone has their own special musical. I believe that music can enrich people’s lives and can enable them to change the world for the better. I also believe that the earlier children are exposed to the joy of music, the greater the benefits”
