Bassoon
Education
Qun received his BM from Oberlin Conservatory before going on to receive his MM and DMA from the University of Maryland. He has also studied and performed at well-renowned music festivals, including the National Repertory Orchestra, National Orchestral Institute, and Eastern Music Festival.
As a Performer
Qun has made frequent appearances with professional orchestras in the DC area, including the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Lyric Opera, Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Great Falls Philharmonic, and Washington Chamber Orchestra.
As a Teacher
Outside of Levine, Qun served as an adjunct professor of bassoon at the College of Southern Maryland from 2023-2024. He also taught a master class (virtual) at Guatemala University. During Qun’s studies at the University of Maryland, he led a bassoon ensemble and coached many undergraduate-level chamber music groups. Qun has taught privately since 2017, and his students have been accepted to many intensive music programs including National Youth Orchestra 2 and National Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Fellowship. Qun’s students have gone on to study at Towson University, the University of Maryland at College Park, and the University of Maryland Baltimore County, majoring or minoring in performance.
At Levine
Qun joined Levine’s faculty in 2024 and teaches bassoon.
