Education

Robert earned his B.M.E. from Sam Houston State University, M.M. in Clarinet Performance and Teaching Fellowship from the University of Houston and D.M.A. in Clarinet Performance from the Catholic University of America.

Performance and Teaching Experience

As an active musician, Robert has experience performing with the Levine Woodwind Quintet, Mpingo, Capital City Symphony as Principal clarinet, Fairfax Wind Symphony, Virginia Grand Military Band, Gennusa Clarinet Camerata Clarinet choir, Castleton Winds and performed with the USAF Concert Band for 26 years.

Robert maintains a private studio in Virginia where he has been recognized by the Governor’s School for Visual and Performing Arts for mentoring, advising, and inspiring the youth of the Commonwealth of Virginia. His students have been prize winners in competitions and perform in the American Youth Symphony, McLean Youth Orchestra, solo festivals, District and All-State Bands. Some have continued studying at major music schools and have gone on to teach and perform.

Robert is currently the conductor of the City of Falls Church Concert Band.

At Levine

Robert has been on the Levine faculty since 1986 where he teaches private clarinet lessons and the Clarinet Worskshop.

Of the many things Robert admires about Levine, he appreciates the numerous performance opportunities available for students including juries, recitals and participation in the honor’s program.

“I want to instill a love for music that will last throughout a lifetime. I teach the fundamentals from the very beginning preparing my students to achieve their goals, play musically, and perform clarinet with a beautiful tone.”
