Cello

Education

Ryan received his BM in Cello Performance at the University of Cincinnati: College-Conservatory of Music. He has also studied and performed at several renowned music festivals, including Pacific Music Festival, Kent/Blossom Music Festival, Opera in the Ozarks, and Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. Ryan is certified in the Suzuki Method Books 1-3.

As a Performer

Ryan served as Principal Cellist for the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, Huntington Symphony Orchestra, and Blue Ash/Montgomery Symphony Orchestra. He has also served as a substitute cellist with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Jacksonville Symphony, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and Illinois Symphony Orchestra.

As a Teacher

Ryan has maintained a private teaching studio for ten years and has previously taught as a Suzuki Lecturer for the University of Cincinnati: College-Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department. He has also taught private lessons and coached chamber music groups at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, Ohio.

At Levine

Ryan joined Levine’s cello faculty in 2024.

Teaching Philosophy

Every student learns differently. My mission as a teacher is to work with each student to find in what ways they learn best; to give them what they need as individuals and create an environment they can enjoy growing in.

When not engaging in cello-related activities, Ryan enjoys listening to a wide variety of music, spending time with family and friends, exercising, reading (especially Stephen King), and playing video games.
