Marilyn Moore

One of the most empowering aspects of singing is realizing that your body is your instrument. Whether you’re singing in the shower or onstage at Carnegie Hall, every person possesses the raw materials to create music. “Singing is very powerful,” says Levine faculty member Marilyn Moore. “Everyone can experience music at any age and level. Singing is a wonderful way to express oneself, boost confidence, and overall well-being.”

Marilyn started singing at a young age; she loved her music classes and was always excited and eager to share her joy in singing with her classmates and her community. When it came time for college, Marilyn says she was deciding between two paths: studying law or music. Her fearlessness and the encouragement of her music teachers helped her make the decision of a lifetime, and she went on to pursue a career in music at Westminster Choir College, Temple University, and The Academy of Vocal Arts. Marilyn has balanced a career where she is both a dedicated teacher and a prolific performer. A soprano, Marilyn’s performances include appearances with the New York City Opera, Michigan Opera, Peter Nero and the Philly Pops Orchestra, and concert appearances at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and abroad at the Beijing Music Festival, Chartres Cathedral in France, Brazil, and Lithuania. Marilyn continues to enjoy exploring and performing a variety of musical genresLevine Music provides an opportunity for her to guide her students to achieve solid vocal techniques as they also explore genres they enjoy.

As a longtime member of Levine’s voice faculty, Marilyn has dedicated herself to nurturing musicality in students of all ages and backgrounds. She believes music education is transformative and that singing can be a powerful tool for personal growth and connection

It’s gratifying to see how students’ music education transfers to other areas of their lives. Singing is a way to connect to oneself. Lessons can often aid in one’s overall emotional and physical well-being. My goal is to create a space where my students feel free to express these emotions.”   — Marilyn Moore

Marilyn’s passion for music extends beyond the classroom. She views performance as a gift, a way to share emotions and make profound connections with audiences. “Music is a universal language,” she explains. “It’s a way of expressing your love and emotions and helping others access their own.”

This language of music unites instrumentalists, vocalists, and audience members alike. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or at the beginning of your musical journey, Marilyn’s message is clear: everyone can experience music and unlock a world of creativity, expression, and joy.
