Guided Listening: Danial Sheibani’s Freedom Uncanny

In this session, we take a new work from a young, up-and-coming Iranian composer, Danial Sheibani (b. 2003). Currently based in Toronto, Sheibani already has a catalog that includes concert works and works for film, TV, podcast, and theatre. Composed for the 2023 Cascade Conducting Sinfonietta in Tacoma, Washington, the backdrop for Freedom Uncanny includes sensitive topics and is for a mature audience. We will discuss some important historical events and go through the score together.
