Our 2024-25 lecture series, Musical Pairings, highlights the intersection of music with art forms, culture, food, and drink. Join Levine faculty member Minji Kim to explore the fascinating world of Impressionism in visual art and classical music.
This lecture will examine the emergence and characteristics of Impressionist paintings, focusing on iconic works such as Claude Monet’s Haystacks and Rouen Cathedral series and Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s Dance at the Moulin de la Galette. The discussion investigates how Impressionist music mirrors the techniques and sensibilities of these paintings.
The event will feature live performances by Levine faculty member Minji Kim and Levine piano students.
