The Marine Band’s Fall Chamber Music Series continues with a concert featuring two contemporary compositions alongside a theatrical work by influential composer Igor Stravinsky. The program includes Ivan Trevino’s Driven, James Stephenson’s Suite from Vignettes, and Stravinsky’s Histoire du Soldat. Trevino’s Driven, a percussion duo, “requires each player to simultaneously perform on a mallet instrument while also navigating a kick drum and snare drum.” Stephenson’s Suite from Vignettes is a technical and energetic piece scored for trumpet and percussion. Stravinsky’s Histoire du Soldat – The Soldier’s Tale – explores the dark themes of war, littered with allegories and intentional instrumentation to convey a striking story.
The concert is free to attend and will be followed by a master class.
