Favorite Moments of 2024

Building Our New Home in Virginia

After nearly three decades of inspiring music education in Northern Virginia, we were thrilled to announce our move to a new Levine Music campus in West Falls Church!

As Levine’s first customized space in Northern Virginia, this new campus is an important milestone for our school and community. Featuring a digital piano lab, modern studios, and flexible performance space, we will all teach, learn, and play in spaces specifically designed for musical instruction. We are so grateful to our entire Northern Virginia community for their support as we make this historic move.

The construction is nearly complete, and we look forward to moving into the space in 2025.

The Big Sing

For 39 years, Community Sings at Levine have brought people of all ages and skill levels together to create beautiful music. This fun, energetic program, now led by Levine alumnus Micah Hendler has participants singing gorgeous five-part harmonies in no time.

This past October, we teamed up with our friends at The Kennedy Center and The Washington National Cathedral to present The Big Sing, a community sing to experience the social and psychological benefits of singing together in one of the most beautiful spaces in DC. About 750 people joined us in an evening of song that resonated in the rafters of the cathedral.

Record-Setting Support

In 2024, Levine has provided more tuition assistance than ever before. Through our tuition assistance program, we’re able to make music education an accessible option in our community by providing financial support for those who qualify. This is only possible because of the generosity of our supporters, who made history at our 2024 Gala by raising over $700,000 to support our commitment to providing all students with opportunities to deepen their relationship with music.

The 2024 Gala was a celebration of Levine with an evening of outstanding performances by Levine students, faculty, and alumni.

Orchestra Day

Our second annual Orchestra Day was an unforgettable celebration of music and community! Students from our Silver Spring and THEARC campuses came together for a thrilling joint performance that showcased the power of collaboration. This cross-campus collaboration not only allowed students to meet new friends but also gave them the chance to learn from one another, share experiences, and, most importantly, have a blast making music together.

Our orchestras at both campuses are made up of beginning musicians, many of whom are new to stringed instruments like the violin, viola, cello, and bass. Each week, these budding musicians come together for full ensemble rehearsals and focused instrument-specific sectionals, where they develop both their skills and a deep sense of teamwork. Orchestra Day was a beautiful showcase of their hard work, passion, and the vibrant community spirit that defines Levine Music!

Loeffler Alumni Series 10th Anniversary

In October, we launched the 10th anniversary of the Loeffler Alumni Series with an extraordinary performance by guitarist and Levine alumnus Cristian Perez and his band, The Guitar Renegades. This dynamic guitar quintet, featuring Cristian Perez (leader/arranger), Connor Holdridge, Jan Knutson, Parker Spears, and Tommy Holladay, captivated the audience with a stunningly diverse program that included works by Bach, Simon & Garfunkel, Kurt Cobain, and Django Reinhardt.

An Argentine-American 7-string guitarist, composer, and arranger based in Northern Virginia, Cristian Perez has built an impressive international career since his time at Levine. He has performed across the globe in Argentina, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Canada, China, the Dominican Republic, and South Korea while remaining a vibrant presence in the greater DC music scene. His artistry and versatility set the tone for a remarkable anniversary celebration of the Loeffler Alumni Series.

Mark your calendars for June 1 to join us for the Loeffler Alumni Series 10th Anniversary Concert.

PianoFest

This past summer, we debuted PianoFest, a dynamic week-long learning experience designed to turn summer into an unforgettable adventure for our advanced piano students!

During PianoFest, students ages 12 to 18 immersed themselves in music, taking daily lessons with Levine’s faculty, participating in master classes and seminars, and honing their skills through ensemble and solo performances. Beyond the practice rooms, students explored Washington, DC’s vibrant classical music and food scene on field trips.

We were incredibly honored to welcome back Levine alumna Avery Gagliano as our guest artist for the week. An internationally acclaimed pianist, Avery inspired students through coaching sessions, a captivating master class, and a breathtaking solo recital. Her presence made this inaugural event truly extraordinary.

PianoFest was more than just a week of learning—it was a celebration of artistry, community, and the boundless possibilities of music.

Moments of Inspiration

Every year at Levine is a symphony of moments filled with music, learning, and inspiration. Behind each of these moments is a teacher, a mentor, and an artist—a dedicated Levine faculty member who lights the way toward musical discovery. Whether it’s a child picking up their first instrument, a teen mastering a challenging piece, or an adult rediscovering the joy of music, every day in every Levine studio is alive with the sound of growth and creativity.

On behalf of the whole Levine Music family, thank you for making us your musical home. It is only with your help that we can reach our goals and aspirations.
