Get Started: Lessons

Levine Music is the Washington region’s leading center for music education — open to anyone, regardless of age, ability, or means. Our faculty of 180 artists offers a broad and well-rounded curriculum that provides a strong musical foundation in an environment where you can explore, create, and find inspiration through music.

If you’re new to Levine, follow these steps to start taking private music lessons.

1

Submit the New Student Placement Form.

You can begin this process at any time of year. We’ll then connect you to the appropriate department chair.

2

Schedule a meeting with the department chair.

They will discuss your musical experience and goals and recommend a teacher who would be a good match.

3

Meet your recommended teacher.

At this trial lesson, you will discuss your lesson time, length, and schedule, as well as set goals and make sure it’s the right fit.

4

Enroll!

We’ll help you set up your Levine account and enroll in private lessons for the academic year.

Tuition Assistance

Levine Music is dedicated to providing quality music education for all students, opening our doors to anyone who wants to learn music, no matter their ability or financial circumstances.

Academic Year

Students who begin private lessons at the start of the school year (September) enroll for 34 teaching weeks and two (2) performance weeks. During the performance weeks, students engage in a jury, recital, studio class, or other opportunity to showcase their progress.

Students who join Levine after the start of the academic year enroll for the remaining weeks, with prorated tuition.

For added flexibility, adult students may choose to take lessons weekly (36), twice a month (18), or through an occasional package (9) for the academic year.
