Levine Music is pleased to announce a part-time Violin Instructor position in the Suzuki Strings Department, beginning June 2026.
Position Summary
The Suzuki Violin Instructor will provide private instruction and may have opportunities to teach group classes as enrollment and program needs grow. This position begins with at least five hours of private teaching per week during the academic year, with the potential for additional teaching hours over time.
The successful candidate should be flexible and willing to teach at any of Levine Music’s five campuses in the Washington, DC region and to add additional teaching days or hours in the future, based on program needs and student enrollment.
Levine Music seeks candidates who are interested in joining a collaborative and mutually supportive faculty community with a diversity of pedagogical approaches.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Music in Performance or Music Education
- Master of Music in Performance or Music Education is preferred
- Registered Suzuki Method training through Book 4
- A strong dedication to and understanding of the Suzuki philosophy
- Teaching experience with children of various ages and levels
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Group class teaching experience, preferred
- Applicants with less Suzuki training may be considered if they are highly qualified in other areas and are committed to continued Suzuki training, observation, and mentoring.
Compensation and Benefits
Levine Music offers competitive compensation, with hourly teaching rates beginning at $50.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
This position may have the opportunity to progress to a core faculty appointment, generally defined as a teaching commitment of at least 15 hours per week, based on program needs, enrollment, teaching schedule, and performance.
Faculty teaching 17.5 or more hours per week are eligible to participate in Levine Music’s benefits program, subject to applicable plan terms.
