Teen Apprentice Program

The 2021 Teen Apprentice Program is now closed for applications.

For families with pre-teens and teens in rising 7th – 12th grade, the Teen Apprentice program this summer is a great way to learn new skills, stay involved with the camp community, and earn volunteer hours. Teen Apprentinces are needed for the in-person camps and the online camp; you can indicate your preference in the application.

The Teen Apprentice Program consists of responsible, mature, and enthusiastic junior high and high school students who assist groups of campers, support teachers in the virtual classroom, learn effective techniques for working with children, and put their love of music and the arts to use. Teen Apprentices do not need to have any musical knowledge or previous experience with Camp Levine or Levine Music.

Teen Apprentices:

  • Share their love of music and the arts and expand their knowledge.
  • Work with excellent teachers and assist in virtual classrooms/studios.
  • Develop leadership skills through training and practical experience.
  • Learn effective techniques for working with children.
  • Meet Social Service Learning (SSL) requirements.
  • Earn an incredible experience to add to a resume or college application.

Responsibilities

Apprentices-in-Training (AIT) are rising 7th and 8th graders, who are placed with a returning Teen Lead, who provide guidance throughout the camp session.  Typically, Apprentices-in-Training are placed with Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten classes or 1st grade classes, although needs vary depending on the site and session.

Teen Apprentices (TA) generally work with campers in grades 1-6 and travel with these teams of campers throughout the day, encouraging and guiding participation.  Some Teen Apprentices are given student teaching opportunities, where they can learn from a faculty member and assist with classroom/studio lessons and activities.

Teen Leads (TL) are returning Teen Apprentices who have previously received excellent evaluations from their site staff.  Teen Leads are expected to guide AITs by providing assistance, advice, and support.
