In this six-week cabaret intensive, we will be exploring the music of John Kander and Fred Ebb. Known for their messages of resilience, vulnerability, connection and defiance in a complex world, the songs of Kander and Ebb draw strong relevance way beyond the plots of their shows.
This cabaret class will combine our personal stories and connections with this great material in solo, duet, and group format. Students will be given a selection of material to choose from out of the Kander/Ebb 15-show canon which includes heralded works such as “Cabaret ,”Chicago”, “Flora, the Red Menace”, “Kiss of the Spider Woman”, and “Steel Pier”.
The Monday/Wednesday class times will be utilized for group rehearsals and private coachings (to be scheduled).
The class will culminate in a revue-style cabaret public performance on Monday, June 29th at Levine’s Lang Recital Hall.
