Jazz Combo for Adults

Play jazz in a collaborative small ensemble setting guided by Levine’s expert faculty. Open to adult instrumentalists and vocalists, this weekly ensemble experience is designed for students who want to build confidence, strengthen musicianship, and enjoy making music with others.

We’ll explore songs from the jazz standard repertoire while developing essential ensemble skills such as communication, musical interaction, groove, improvisation, and stylistic interpretation. Faculty coaches also introduce core concepts in jazz theory, harmony, and form in a practical, hands-on rehearsal environment.

This class is ideal for adults with prior experience on their instrument or voice who are ready to play with others in an encouraging and engaging setting. Students should have at least one year of study and basic familiarity with reading music or chord charts.

Each semester culminates in a performance opportunity at Levine’s Contemporary Program Showcase.
