Elements Ensemble
Ages 6 – 8
Get ready to play, sing, and create! This lively ensemble invites young musicians to explore the building blocks of music through hands-on percussion, movement, and creative collaboration. Each session offers opportunities to engage with rhythm, melody, and musical storytelling in an Orff-inspired ensemble, building foundational skills that support future instrument exploration while having fun together.
Here’s what your child can look forward to:
- Experiencing ensemble playing through singing and playing pitched and unpitched percussion instruments (xylophones, metallophones, drums, etc.).
- Engaging in creative movement and musical storytelling.
- Discovering musical elements, like pitch, dynamics, tempo, form, character, and mood.
- Identifying, mimicking, and creating musical ideas using various musical elements.
- Improvising or composing music by playing within exploratory frameworks.
- Learning the basics of music notation.
- A celebratory final performance in the spring.
This ensemble builds basic music skills and vocabulary, which builds a foundation for further instruction in any instrument.
