Capital City Voices at Levine

What could be better than combining the expressive power of the human voice with the timeless sound of jazz? Led by acclaimed vocalist and educator Reginald Bowens, Capital City Voices is Levine’s longtime jazz choir and a beloved ensemble in the Washington, DC area.

Rooted in the tradition of great vocal groups such as The Manhattan Transfer and Take 6, Capital City Voices blends jazz with touches of R&B, gospel, and Brazilian influences to create a vibrant and rewarding ensemble experience.

Open to a wide range of singers, from beginners to advanced vocalists, semi-professionals, and music educators, this welcoming ensemble offers opportunities to build vocal technique, musicianship, harmony skills, stylistic awareness, and confidence. Repertoire spans classic and contemporary selections, and each rehearsal offers new insights into music, jazz, and the voice.

No audition is required. The choir meets weekly in person and presents periodic public performances throughout the year.
