Education
Eric studied piano as a young child, marveling at the works of Scott Joplin. Later, he pursued studies on the guitar and tabla, traveling to France, Spain, and India to study with some of the great virtuosos of those instruments. Eric holds an M.Ed. from the University of Maryland.
Performance and Teaching Experience
Eric counts himself lucky to be teaching music at both Levine’s summer camp and outreach school, Kids Are Us, as well as at the University of Maryland’s Center for Young Children and the National Archives preschool. He performs at festivals and in elementary schools, teaches guitar and piano to young musicians, and holds weekly early childhood music classes for children and their parents in College Park, MD. He is also a dance caller and performing songwriter with several recordings to his credit.
Most importantly, he is the proud father of two sons who are both budding musicians!
At Levine
Eric Maring is known as “Mr. M” by his young students. “Teaching early childhood music is truly my calling,” says Eric.
“Young musicians keep an openness to the mystery of music that I am thrilled to nurture and experience each and every day.”
