Education

Henry received his MM in Cello Performance/Suzuki Pedagogy at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Preceding his CIM studies, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with a BM in Cello Performance. Henry began his cello studies at the age of five with Bonnie Cohan. He went on to study with Alan Rafferty, Richard Weiss, Avi Friedlander, and Stephen Geber. Additionally, Henry has performed in master classes for Hans Jorgen Jensen, Richard Aaron, Alisa Weilerstein, Johannes Moser, Merry Peckham, and Melissa Kraut.

Performance and Teaching Experience

In demand as a cello clinician, Henry has taught at the Greater Washington Suzuki Institute, Intermountain Suzuki String Institute, Blue Mountain Chamber Music Festival, Music School of Delaware, and Peabody Preparatory. In May 2024, Henry received the Suzuki Association of the Americas’ Certificate of Achievement, an award given to teachers who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to excellence in their teaching. Henry has completed two rounds of long-term SAA Training and continues to seek opportunities to further enrich his teaching. His teacher-training has been registered with Abbey Hansen, Avi Friedlander, Tanya Carey, Nancy Hair, Pam Devenport, Timothy Durbin, and Carey Beth Hockett.

At Levine

Henry joined Levine in August 2019 and teaches Suzuki and traditional cello. Since 2024, Henry has served as Levine’s Associate Chair of Suzuki Instruction.
