Are you passionate about the arts and interested in exploring a career in nonprofit fundraising and development? Levine Music is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Development Summer Intern to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting fundraising initiatives that make high-quality music education accessible to thousands of students across the DC area.

Internship Overview

  • Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week (summer)
  • Location: In-person (Washington, DC area)
  • Unpaid; transportation subsidy provided

This internship is ideal for a college student interested in nonprofit development, fundraising, arts administration, or philanthropy.

What You’ll Do

As a Development Intern, you will play a key role in supporting Levine Music’s fundraising efforts. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with preparation for upcoming fundraising events (logistics, materials, guest lists, and coordination)
  • Conducting prospect and donor research to support development strategies
  • Performing accurate data entry and database updates to maintain donor records
  • Supporting donor data management using Raiser’s Edge, a leading nonprofit CRM system
  • Helping the team stay organized through administrative and project support
  • Contributing ideas and insights in a collaborative, mission-driven environment

Qualifications

We welcome candidates from a variety of academic backgrounds who are excited about the arts and nonprofit work.

  • Current undergraduate student (rising sophomore, junior, or senior preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); comfort working with data
  • Positive attitude, professionalism, and willingness to learn

Preferred Fields of Study:

  • Arts Administration
  • Nonprofit Management
  • Music or Performing Arts
  • Communications or Public Relations
  • Marketing
  • English or other writing-intensive disciplines

Students with an interest in fundraising, philanthropy, or the intersection of arts and community impact are especially encouraged to apply. Experience with or interest in learning Raiser’s Edge or other nonprofit databases is a plus.
