Education
Daniel Rosman holds a Master of Music in Clarinet Performance from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music and dual bachelor’s degrees in Instrumental Music Education and Clarinet Performance from Florida State University. His clarinet teachers include Steve Cohen, Mark Nuccio, Deborah Bish, and Paul Votapek.
A Florida native, Daniel began playing the clarinet at age ten in his hometown of Bonita Springs. From an early age, he developed a dual passion for music performance and music education, giving his solo debut at age sixteen and pursuing a career in music education during his undergraduate studies shortly after.
As a Performer
Daniel has performed across the United States and internationally in Belgium, Switzerland, and Finland, appearing in settings ranging from traditional concert halls to sold-out football stadiums. He is currently a clarinetist with the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” a position he began in 2025. Previously, he served with the United States Army Field Band, touring extensively throughout the US and Europe as a member of the concert band and reed quintet, “The Cavalreeds.”
As a Teacher
Daniel is passionate about helping students grow as confident, curious, and well-rounded musicians. Before his graduate studies, he worked as a high school band director in the Florida Panhandle, where he taught large ensembles, led sectionals, and presented clinics and master classes throughout the state. He also maintained a private clarinet studio, guiding students toward success in All-District and All-State Bands and Orchestras, solo competitions, and auditions. Daniel is especially proud that many of his former students have continued on to college music programs and professional musical careers.
While he was a student at Florida State University, he served as Head Drum Major of the Marching Chiefs, and at Northwestern, he mentored first-year clarinet students while maintaining an active performance schedule. Whether working with beginners or advanced students, Daniel strives to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students can develop strong fundamentals and a lifelong love of music.
Teaching Philosophy
I love to help students learn and grow, and I am committed to doing so. As part of that commitment, my ultimate goal as an educator is to teach students to teach themselves. This begins with establishing a strong foundation through understanding the fundamentals of music and clarinet playing. From there, I work to provide my students with the tools they need to improve their musicianship, whether they are by my side in a lesson or practicing on their own.
At Levine
Daniel joined the Levine faculty in 2025.
It is so great to work with such wonderful people here at Levine, students and faculty alike! I am always inspired at everyone’s dedication and work ethic, whether it is through practicing fundamentals and first notes, or performing music that has taken years to develop.
