Ellie received her Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music in New York and her Bachelor of Music in Korea.

As a Performer

Soprano Ellie Yeonjung Kim, was recognized with “great critical acclaim” by Opera News Online for the role of Rita in Donizetti’s Rita with the Martina Arroyo Foundation. Ellie is a Washington- and Baltimore-based soprano who is originally from Seoul, Korea. She is also a professional member of the Washington Master Chorale.

Ellie has been a featured soloist in various concerts including appearances with Bach in Baltimore and the Washington Bach Consort. She also performed the soprano solo in Mozart’s Requiem, John Rutter’s Gloria, and Handel’s Messiah in the DC area.

She made her operatic debut performing Lucy in Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Telephone at the National Theater of Korea. Her other operatic highlights include Pamina in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart), the title role in Rita (Donizetti), Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Sophie in Werther (Massenet), and Liu in Turandot (Puccini).

Ellie joined our voice faculty in 2022 teaching Voice for Young Singers and Teens and Tweens.

“One of my greatest strengths as an educator is meeting each student’s unique needs by developing a personal understanding of each one of them. I ensure sustainable and healthy voice techniques, collaborating the students natural voice and body types to make beautiful sound.”

Ellie is also a certified Pilates instructor and is knowledgeable about applying physiological concepts to enhance breathing techniques and optimize posture to make the most of a singer’s voice.
