Education
Ji-Yeon received her BM from Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul, South Korea before going on to earn her MM in Voice Performance from the New England Conservatory in Boston. She subsequently earned her DMA in Voice Performance and Opera from the University of Maryland.
As a Performer
Ji-Yeon, a lyric soprano, has performed in numerous concerts, chamber music events, operas, and oratorios in the Washington, DC area. Her operatic repertoire includes roles such as Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Norina (Don Pasquale), Constance (The Dialogues of the Carmelites), and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte). She has also appeared as a soloist in various choral works, including Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, Mozart’s Requiem, and Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem.
At Levine
Ji-Yeon joined Levine’s voice faculty in 2022.
I am enthusiastic about teaching students of all ages and vocal abilities at Levine. I’ve had the opportunity to teach classical music, musical theatre, gospel, and contemporary music, and it brings me great joy to watch them grow and develop their talents.
Teaching Philosophy
Ji-Yeon believes voice lessons are a journey to uncovering each student’s natural voice. she guides her students in understanding and using their voice with healthy technique, while honoring their unique vocal timbre and abilities.
