Jonathan Ray Jones

Education

Jonathan earned a Bachelor of Music from The Catholic University of America, a Master of Divinity from the John Leland Center for Theological Studies, and a Master of Education from National Louis University.

As a Performer

Jonathan has performed with several distinguished ensembles, including the Washington Symphony Orchestra, the Pan American Symphony Orchestra, the Soulful Symphony Orchestra, and the Prince George’s Philharmonic Orchestra. His orchestral experience reflects a wide-ranging versatility, encompassing both classical and contemporary repertoire.

As a Teacher

Jonathan is an experienced educator who has taught string students of all ages for more than two decades. He has served as the Orchestra Teacher at George Washington Middle School since 1998 and taught for 22 years with the DC Youth Orchestra Program. He is also on the faculty of the Ottley Music School and maintains an active private studio, where he teaches violin and viola.

At Levine

Jonathan joined Levine’s strings faculty in 20`18 and leads our orchestras at THEARC and Silver Spring.

Teaching Philosophy

I have a very nurturing pedagogical approach and enjoy teaching students of various levels. I use every resource I can to foster the students’ joy in making music, and I try to put all my energy into making sure that the honing of their musical acumen is an enriching experience.
