Education

Larry Williams earned a Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance and a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory of Music.

As a Performer

Hornist Larry Williams has distinguished himself as a multifaceted performing and recording artist, teacher, and administrator.

Larry is currently the Hornist of the Gateways Brass Collective, and Principal Horn of Piedmont Symphony Orchestra, Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra, and American Studio Orchestra. Larry is also a member of the Gateways Festival Orchestra, Sphinx Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Brass Quintet, and Rooftop Wind Quintet.

Larry has been featured at music festivals and tours of the US, Russia, China, Japan, and the UK, and has performed with Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Arturo Sandoval, Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Roots, and others. Larry has premiered and recorded several horn concerti, and has recorded several solo and chamber music albums.

As a Teacher

In addition to Levine, Larry serves as Adjunct Professor of Horn at Washington Adventist University. Larry previously served as Assistant Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs at Johns Hopkins University, on the faculty of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and at Florida International University.

Larry Williams is a Yamaha and Conn Selmer Performing Artist & Clinician.

At Levine

Larry joined Levine’s brass faculty in 2025.
