Education

Sean received his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Florida State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude and with honors. He then went on to earn his Master of Music in Piano Performance and his Doctor of Music in Piano Performance and Literature from Indiana University. Sean is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM).

As a Performer

Sean performs frequently as a soloist and chamber musician and is a member of the Cavanaugh-Shapiro violin/piano duo, which recently completed performing the entire cycle of Beethoven violin/piano sonatas and appeared in recitals as part of the 2023 Fete de la Musique in Geneva, Switzerland. Other recent collaborations include a transatlantic recital of German and American vocalists at the German Embassy in Washington, DC. As a soloist, Sean enjoys programming the music of J.S. Bach. He has performed many of his works, including the Goldberg Variations, as part of his Doctorate at Indiana University.

As a Teacher

Before coming to Levine, Sean served on the faculty at Vincennes University in Indiana, where he taught piano, music theory, and music history courses. During his graduate studies at Indiana University, Sean served as a graduate teaching assistant to Karen Shaw and as an Associate Instructor and assistant to the Secondary Piano Coordinator, teaching individual and group piano to students of all ages and levels.

Sean joined Levine’s piano department in 2023.
