Education

Viktor earned a Master of Arts from the Belarusian State Conservatory, where he studied Piano Performance, Chamber Ensemble, and Vocal Accompaniment. He later completed a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory.

Performing Experience

Since 1979, Victor has performed extensively throughout the Soviet Union, both as a soloist and with orchestra. Victor was the first performer of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Sonata in F minor in the United States, and was introduced through concert transcriptions of the music of Bizet, Rachmaninoff, and Saint-Saens. Victor was also awarded Second Place in the Ciurlionis International Competition in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Teaching Experience

Victor has been teaching piano at the conservatory level since 1983. Shortly after his early studies in Minsk, Belarus, he became an Assistant Professor at the Saint-Petersburg Conservatory. Upon immigrating to the U.S., Victor has taught extensively both as a faculty member and privately.

In addition to his individual teaching experience, Victor has established a piano master class with the Homeschoolers Association of America, was appointed Adjunct Professor at the Washington Bible College, spent time as a staff musician at the Kirov Academy of Ballet, and became a faculty member at the Kirov Academy of Arts.

Teaching Philosophy

Victor describes his teaching approach as versatile, characterized by a high degree of professionalism and a strong focus on student needs. He emphasizes flexibility in repertoire, demonstrating a willingness to accommodate students’ wishes without compromising the quality of education. Victor’s teaching is centered around patience, kindness, and a good sense of humor.

At Levine

Victor joined Levine’s Piano Department in June of 2022. His favorite aspect of being on faculty at Levine is “becoming a part of a great institution”.
