Levine student Chloe Chu presents a solo recital in the Kunen.
About Chloe
Chloe Chu is a 10-year-old violinist at Bannockburn Elementary School. She started playing violin at the age of 4 and currently studies violin with Vergilio Joven in the Rising Stars Program at Levine Music. She is a prizewinner in numerous competitions, including first prizes in the 2024 Marlin-Engel Solo Competition, 2025 Cogen Concerto Competition Junior Division, and 2025 AMMA Metropolitan Music Festival. This year, Chloe won the second prize in the 2026 Marlin-Engel Solo Competition and Cogen Concerto Competition Intermediate Division. Besides playing solo music, she also enjoys playing chamber music with her friends. As an active chamber musician, she won the second prize with her piano trio ( Trio con Brio) and Honorable Mention with her violin-cello Duo (Très vif Duo) in the 2026 Misbin Chamber Music Competition Junior Division.
Chloe has participated in master classes with distinguished artists, including Andrés Cárdenes, Njioma Grevious, the Army String Quartet, Scott Conklin, Katie Lansdale, and Dylana Jenson. In the summer, Chloe has attended a number of music festivals. Her performances have been featured at the Ithaca Suzuki Institute’s Advanced Violin Program, Perludio Program, and Heifetz International Music Institute.
Outside of music, Chloe is a competitive swimmer and an avid figure skater. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, doing arts and crafts, and hanging out with friends and her two cats.
