The central concert of Levine Music’s 2026 Composition Weekend, this performance features members of the internationally renowned International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE). Violinist Modney and pianist Erika Dohi bring their distinctive artistry to an evening of adventurous, boundary-pushing music, featuring works by Anthony Braxton and Andy Akiho.
Spanning generations of influential composers, the program offers a vivid exploration of contemporary musical thought. It moves from Braxton’s groundbreaking innovations to Akiho’s rhythmically charged, genre-defying sound, performed by two of today’s leading interpreters of new music.
Come early for a master class featuring Modney and Erika Dohi working with Levine composition students on their works.
Now in its third decade, the International Contemporary Ensemble is a multidisciplinary collective of musicians, digital media artists, producers, and educators committed to building and innovating collaborative environments in order to inspire audiences to reimagine how they experience contemporary music and sound. The Ensemble creates a mosaic musical ecosystem as “America’s foremost new-music group” (The New Yorker), honoring the diversity of human experience and expression by commissioning, developing, recording, and performing the works of living artists in “a mission worth following” (I Care If You Listen).
