Levine alum and acclaimed pianist Avery Gagliano works with advanced Levine piano students in this engaging master class. As students receive one-on-one guidance on interpretation, technique, and musical expression, audience members are invited to observe the process and gain new insight into the artistry behind each performance.
A Washington, DC native, Avery began playing piano at age five and studied at Levine with Marina Alekseyeva before entering the Curtis Institute of Music. Since then, she has emerged as one of the leading pianists of her generation, earning First Prize and the Best Concerto Prize at the 2020 National Chopin Piano Competition and becoming the only American semifinalist at the 2021 International Chopin Piano Competition. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, Warsaw Philharmonic Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin, and other major venues across the United States and Europe.
Avery is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with Robert McDonald, Gary Graffman, and Jonathan Biss. She currently lives in Germany and continues her studies with Sir András Schiff at the Kronberg Academy.
The master class takes place ahead of Avery’s October 18 performance as part of Levine’s Loeffler Alumni Series.
