US Army Band “Pershing’s Own” and WMPI Chamber Concert

May 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Free

The United States Army Band and Strings “Pershing’s Own” joins the Washington Musical Pathways Initiative in a special chamber side-by-side concert. Join us to experience ensembles ranging from a nonet to a “Silk-Road-inspired” quintet, where musicians will perform works by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Felix Mendelssohn, Jessie Montgomery, and Heitor Villa-Lobos.

The concert is free and available in person and online.

The Washington Musical Pathways Initiative (WMPI) is a talent development program that prepares middle and high school musicians from historically excluded communities in classical music for entrance into competitive collegiate music programs. With partners, the DC Youth Orchestra Program, Levine Music, National Symphony Orchestra, and Kennedy Center, WMPI champions a collective approach to creating a more diverse and inclusive classical music world.
