This position plays a critical role in supporting Levine’s financial operations, with a primary focus on year-end close, audit preparation, and financial reporting. This position partners closely with the CFO to ensure accurate financial records, timely reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, experienced in month-end and year-end close processes, and comfortable working independently in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. This is an in-person position requiring approximately 10–20 hours per week, with increased hours expected during year-end close and audit periods.
Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Ongoing Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and validate assigned complex journal entries, including accruals and adjustments
- Perform and review assigned balance sheet reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances
- Analyze financial data and provide support for internal reporting and decision-making
- Assist with improving accounting processes and internal controls
Month-End and Year-End Close
- Lead and support month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare schedules for prepaid expenses and other key accounts
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned closing activities
- Review supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy
Audit and Compliance
- Lead preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation
- Serve as primary liaison with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and organizational policies
- Assist with preparation of Form 990 support and other regulatory filings
As Needed
- Provide general accounting support and assist with special projects
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including audit and year-end close
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Demonstrated experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and audit preparation
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with accounting systems (Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred) or ability to learn quickly
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a part-time capacity
Compensation: Commensurate with exprience
