Explore the world of Americana music in this creative ensemble experience for teen musicians. Open to string and wind students, this class introduces us to the styles and traditions that shape Americana, including folk, roots, bluegrass, country, and indie acoustic music.
Led by Maxfield Wollam-Fisher, we’ll rehearse authentic repertoire while developing essential ensemble skills such as rhythmic feel, phrasing, stylistic interpretation, and collaborative musicianship. We’ll also learn how strings and winds contribute color, texture, and energy within contemporary acoustic ensembles.
The class begins as a strings and winds sectional — with a focus on style, articulation, and ensemble preparation — and concludes with rehearsals alongside a professional rhythm section before a final performance.
Designed for curious and motivated teen musicians, this is a unique opportunity to expand musical versatility while exploring a genre not often featured in traditional school ensembles.
The session culminates in a live performance with members of The Timber Bridges at Levine’s Contemporary Program Showcase.
